Lake Mobley

Lake Mobley is available for fishing and boating to owner-members of the Callaway Woods Home Owners Association. Outside guests are allowed only when they are accompanied by an owner-member. Guests are otherwise not allowed.

The lake contains largemouth black bass, a variety of sunfish or bream including some recently stocked hybrid bream called “Copperheads”. There are also catfish including stocked channel cats weighing up to 20 lbs.

Fishing hours are good daylight to dusk. Please be off the lake prior to dark for safety reasons and to respect the privacy of your neighbors.

The limit for largemouth bass is 2 per person over 12″ in length and any bass over 5 pounds should be returned to the lake for breeding purposes. The limit on bream is 25 per person and catfish 5 per person. There are some trophy fishing opportunities on the lake for grass carp. A flyrod baited with bread or a corn kernal may produce a carp in excess of 20 lbs and close to 3 feet long. Be prepared for a 30 minute fight with long runs by these heavy weight fish. If grass carp are caught, please return them to the lake for others to catch. They are bony and not good to eat, but are sure fun to catch.

Many owner-members practice catch and release on black bass, which is an idea strongly supported by your Home Owner Association Board. This will permit us to build a healthy bass population and make Lake Mobley a recognized trophy bass lake.

No gasoline motors are allowed in Lake Mobley, only electric powered trolling motors can be used. This is to protect the pristine waters of our lake and to protect our fishing resource.

The spillway to the left of the pool area is “Off Limits” to everyone. It is a very dangerous area and is private property. Note the signs “STAY BACK 50 FEET” are there for a reason, please respect them. Signs are posted for designated fishing areas. These are located near the pool pavilion to the left and right side, including the dock behind the pool.

If any large fish are caught on Lake Mobley, please send the website admin a digital snap shot. We will include them on this website. We would love to show off your catch.

The lake hours are “daylight to dusk “. This gives everyone ample time to fish and still be off the lake before dark.

Good luck and Good Fishing!!!
